Pastelist Nicora Gangi, has been a member of the art department faculty at Syracuse University in New York since 1985. The first impression one gets from a pastel by Nicora Gangi is of technical excellence, since many believe her paintings are a photograph.

Using bold colors contrasted with dark backgrounds she achieves a level of drama reminiscent of the Old Dutch style, but with a more modern flair. Gangi’s startling level of realism instantly informs the viewer we are looking at the work of an incredibly accomplished artist.

Nicora Gangi received her BFA and MFA from Syracuse University. She has had numerous solo exhibitions nationwide and is in many important public and private collections. More recently, Nicora Gangi was one of the featured artists in Pure Color: The Best of Pastel.
