KATHY SOSA

Influenced by Modigliani and Matisse, Kathy Sosa is known for her mixed media portraiture – collage of oils and interior textiles and wallpapers.  Sosa has created a very recognizable style with her strong decorative elements and bold use of color.

A student of the renowned portrait artist Nelson Shanks, Kathy Sosa was commissioned by the Texas Conference of Women to paint design icon Martha Stewart and she presented it to her personally. Sosa has gained widespread recognition with her Huipiles Series which was a part of an exhibition at the Smithsonian Latino Center in Washington DC and the Museo Alameda in San Antonio, Texas.
